Chapter 3
Internships & first job
Internships, a CV or résumé for each country, interviews, and work rights while you study.
Work while you study, and the first job after you graduate, both depend on your visa. The rules on how much you may work, when, and in what kind of job differ by country, and they can change during your course. This chapter explains them from the government pages that set them, with the date we last checked each one.
You will also find:
- how internships, placements and co-op programmes work in each country;
- how CV and résumé conventions differ between the four countries;
- how to prepare for interviews, including questions about your right to work.
Breaking a work condition can put your visa at risk. When a rule is unclear for your case, ask your university’s international student office or a licensed adviser before you accept work. See the disclaimer.
